Promoting Natural Gas Vehicles

Biomethane for Transport Seminar Well Supported

14 March, 2008

BfTConference.JPGBiomethane for Transport, a seminar, jointly organised by NGVA, Cenex and Environmental Protection UK in March, was well supported by OEM and aftermarket exhibitors, in response to increasing interest in the use of biomethane and natural gas fulled vehicles in the UK. OEMs Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz were on board for the occasion along with Clean Air Power (Mercedes HGV) and Organic Power, who rolled up with a Rolls Royce converted for operation on.

The event coincided with an announcement from Volkswagen Group United Kingdom Limited that their compressed natural gas (CNG) EcoFuel Caddy would be available in the UK from the end of 2008.

The conference gave delegates an insight into the gas vehicle market and the production of biomethane from organic waste and its use in transport applications. Also featured were details of a new Biomethane Resource Toolkit, which will provide a wide range of tools to help organisations assess biomethane projects and applications. The event marked the Biomethane for Transport Forum's first anniversary, a networking community of organisations from the private and public sectors with interests in the development of biomethane as a road transport fuel.

Presentations can be viewed at the Biomethane for Transport website.
